Daily Classwork in Journalism Most days we do one of the following activities in Journalism.  Check the Student/Parent Portal on Campus for our daily assignments in Journalism.  Any of these assignments can be made up at home using newspapers or the network news. News Summaries: Most days we will read the newspaper in class.  Students will write one-paragraph summaries of one of the articles they read.  I look for good paragraphs with a topic sentence and 3-4 sentences of supporting details.  Later in the semester students will be required to write 2 summaries a day.     CNN/Cornell Notes: A couple of times a week students will watch CNN News and take notes in class using Cornell Notes.  Cornell Notes involve using 2 columns: The left (smaller) column is for major topics and themes and the right (larger) column if for details.  There is also a place to write a summary at the bottom of the page; often students write an opinion on one of the news stories here.
